I worked at Lowe's part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Co-workers are friendly and helpful. Managers interact with you on a daily basis.

Cons

Sometimes you don't get to work the shifts you want, but this is due to other co-workers requesting the same shifts, and not because of management. Also, there is a lot of downtime when the store isn't busy. This is not the job for someone who has to constantly be busy and moving.

Advice to Management

Great job making your employees feel like they are part of something wonderful.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-It's easy to get a job

    Cons

    -The pay sucks
-They work you like a dog
-They refuse to get you the training you need, even if it is company ok'd
-They set you up for failure if they don't like that you got a position just so they can wright you up to fire you.
    - If you get a bad manager, which is most of them, they'll treat you like an outcast once you've put in you 2 weeks final notice

    Advice to Management

-Learn how to advertise all of you departments
-Require all of your employees to go to ALL of the training that Lowe's provides. Don't let managers decide if they want to send people or not because you'll always get those types of managers, like mine, that won't send people just to save a buck.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Made very good money and not just considering it's retail. There are many talented people that work for Lowe's that are intelligent, caring and knowledgeable. I think there is a lot of potential to advance within Lowe's Home Stores provided you play the game correctly. The benefits are also quite good.

    Cons

Too much favoritism. Upper mgmnt. mostly concerned about getting fired. Company has a ridiculous return policy that is constantly exploited by customers which has a direct impact on the all too elusive quarterly bonus. The hours are somewhere between idiotic and just plain stupid. What's funny is corporate hours for corporate employees are at least within a normal range. HR managers walk around aloof of "corporate scheduling policy" but expect all hourly employees to adhere to said policy (right, Regina ???)
    ?

    Advice to Management

Store mgrs., take control of your store. Stop the idiotic return policy. Someone please start policing HR managers.
