I have been working at Lucasfilm full-time (More than a year)

Pros

It's just great to be in a creative space! The people are such a delight with some great personalities. The benefits are good and we had bonus! The Christmas party/gifts and the 4th of July picnic were a highlight. However this was all before Disney came...

Cons

The pay isn't competitive, in fact many leave and go on to make double of what they were making here. Management isn't that great and someone is always threatening to go to HR. The overall company has changed dramatically since "The Mouse" came along and laid off hundreds of people. It will never be the same and that sucks.

"Good in the beginning but progressively downward. Now owned by Disney so hopefully the changes will be good."

I have been working at Lucasfilm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The talent around you, your peers, the industry, the location, the technology.

    Cons

No career growth or training. You come in skills but then get stale. The industry will pass you by. Salary's are on the low end of the scale. The ones who get noticed and get ahead are the ones without families who can work 50-60 hours a week and at all hours of the night. Working from home is frowned upon.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the way of the people actually making the magic happen.

I worked at Lucasfilm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has an incredible legacy to uphold; Star Wars is a tough IP to beat. ILM and Skywalker Sound are the best in the business.

    Cons

Leadership is overtaxed with a difficult acquisition by Disney, and it's difficult to see if and how it will weather the storm.

    Advice to Management

Develop stronger lines of communication and be up-front about the company's challenges. Talk not just about a desired end state but present concrete steps on how to get there.
