Current Employee - Manager in Lexington, KY
Current Employee - Manager in Lexington, KY
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Getting to know the apartment industry; learning software such as MRI; and getting one's foot into the door of retail in general.

    Cons

Promotion is highly based on seniority; the hiring within the company by area managers is based on favoritism; not everyone gets a fair interview/chance; Mid-America fails to recognize many good employees based on work ethic because it puts too much emphasis on how long he/she has worked there.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire "your friend" to do the job; give everyone a chance to interview; learn to objectively assess the work force and the ability based on facts and results and not based on how much the employees talk to you, etc.; provide more support for a job well done; teach the property management that it is all right to disagree and encourage growth through voicing of opinions for all employees.
