I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time

Pros

world-class cancer center, great talks

Cons

low pay, demanding schedule, no work-life flexibility

Advice to Management

fire most of the departmental admins and let your employees have flexibility in schedules without having to constantly check in & be on campus

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Being able to work with such a diverse culture and help so many people

    Cons

HR. Eventually you will have to go to them for some reason, and they are horrible, horrible people.

    Advice to Management

Be fair and stop trying to pad your paycheck with budget cuts. We employees notice.

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Gaining experience from a world-renowned institute which looks great on the resume.

    Cons

Too much micromanagement, research management does not keep its promises, cannot trust in your supervisors, difficult to transfer to other departments; lately many people were hired for clinical research with no relevant education and/or experience; failed HR employees transfer themselves to positions and getting the highest end of the salary range, while they don't have relevant education and/or experience, while at the same time regular employees barely get a raise; unfair treatment of certain employees, double standard. More cons than pros for sure.

    Advice to Management

Fire all HR personnel, review research management's performance and change them where it is required, review "flex hours" as some employees take advantage of that (e.g. supposed to work 40 hours during 4 days, but work only 8 hours per day or even much less - many times the excuse is that "working from home" while their work requires in-house presence).
