Pros

The people who work there are incredibly helpful and supportive. A chance to learn lots of skills.

Cons

There is little transparency from management. The pay is extremely low for the range of skills and techniques required. Flexi-time has been removed. Little room for progress.

Pros

Provides opportunities to learn how to work in a laboratory and a variety of microbiological techniques. There is some flexibility to your working hours (this was still on a trial period when I left). The people I worked with here were friendly. Time off over Christma is not taken out of your holiday, however I saw mention of christmas bonus in another review that was not the case when I worked here.

Cons

The salaries are poor with no substantial room for progression. This company lacks transparency (promotions are advertised externally without current employees being informed). There is a high staff turnover which has lead to a lack of senior experienced members. Whilst employees must clock in and out (including for lunch) you receive a set salary and are only paid overtime if it is agreed prior to you needing it, which is impractical in this environment.

Pros

Friendly coworkers, a lot of freedom, lab manager is great.

Cons

Where to start? Employee’s have been shouted at for requesting fair pay, the process of overtime pay is ridiculous considering the style of work and often the employees work hours of unpayed overtime a week. There’s no transparency or communication, you may work a week without seeing or hearing from management, lying to staff is not scarce. Staff turnover rate is horrific with limited senior microbiologists due to poor communication, bad working conditions, little feedback, and ambush meetings, many staff members have left due to bullying tactics employed by management, more concern with results than employee health.
