I worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

many intelligent employees and interesting research technologies.

    Cons

A trip back into the past ( when not all was good ). Some departments operate like databases and user interfaces were never invented, nor was there ever a woman's movement. VERY hierarchical...and while they say it is a flat organization, the layers are more like a caste system.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiding in your office! Open your eyes and LOOK around. Get to know your employees and VALUE their experience and input. You try to hire smart people but then treat them in belittling, patronizing ways...like they are almost adolescents.
