I have been working at Macquarie Group full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Working with other like-minded, ambitious people is infectious and helps spur you on - to think creatively, solve problems better, always be on the look-out for opportunities.
Good bonuses are possible for even "lower-level" associates, and are definitely above average even for within this industry.

Cons

Annual bonuses are highly dependent on your own performance and can vary a lot from year to year. They are also dependant on the business performance and your division's and even your team's (although this leads to more of a collaborative/sharing work environment, in order to enable taems and individuals to succeed.)

    Pros

If you work in the right team, you will have their support for remuneration reviews/promotions.
Quarterly updates from management (high level) for all staff gave insight on business performance.

    Cons

Lack of structured training and development.
Highly political environment that rewards nepotism and promotes many who are 'in the clique' vs. who are competent.
Lack of clear management direction and strategic direction is vague at best. This is not an 'innovative' bank - especially as divisions are poor at collaborating with each other to find optimal solutions for the Bank as a whole - everyone is too focused on saving their own skin.
Many employees are unhappy; replacing staff with contractors will only worsen the problem.

    Advice to Management

It's time for management to take a deeper look at the staff morale survey results and start implementing structured training and development for all staff levels and ensure that management (middle and senior) actually know how to train and develop staff talent and reward competence above those 'who are in the gang' - too many good people are walking out the door.

I have been working at Macquarie Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There was a few but have since gone

    Cons

Management push staff to work long hours to cover for staff shortages and large workload
Systems are terrible, so many in-house programs, very time consuming to complete simple tasks
Moving to the Valley is a big negative

    Advice to Management

Need a front end system and better management
