Pros

Working in cosmetics is one of the best locations in the store in my opinion. Higher base pay and commission on sales. Lots of extra vendor incentives and bonus days to win free items like a Clarosonic! Get to mingle with all the customers and play with makeup!

Cons

You can only get a 20% off on a Macy's credit card. And you have to sell those things! It's hard to believe in it when you don't have a Macy's card. Many upper management who drink the koolaid so to speak.

Advice to Management

The more real you are, the better you are. And your employees will wok harder when they like you!

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is definitely a plus! Working with customers everyday allows you to build your interpersonal skills.

    Cons

As an employee you have a scorecard where you are graded each week on your performance. The company expects you to get at least two people to apply for an account per 40 hrs worked. Some weeks you will do very well and others you will fall flat. I don't necessarily see it as a con to working there, but meeting those weekly goals does make it more challenging.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that management should be more encouraging to their staff and reward them for a job well done.

  2. "Very fun"

    Pros

Commission sales with unlimited earning potential. Get to dress up for work. Flexible work schedule. Fun work environment. They have a lot of contests and incentives.

    Cons

To many sales associates on the floor at one time which takes away from making some real money. Return policy is very relaxed which can hurt your commission.

    Advice to Management

Not to over schedule associates on sales floor. But for most part management team is very consistent on how they handle things.
