    I worked at Macy's full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Great company events, People, Internal & External Education, Good benefits, Good employee discount. Being part of a legacy brand with such a strong influence in culture

    Cons

    Extreme micro management. No room for career advancementLack of diversity in the corporate office. Need to work on Work/Life Balance. It discusses but VP's don't care about it. Constant job cuts have had a negative effect on morale.

    Advice to Management

    Give directors more opportunities to grow in their career. All VP's should take leadership classes. Change Bonus structure for directors.

    I have been working at Macy's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    -A decent amount of autonomy when it comes to running and owning your business -Ability to try different functions (buying, planning, product development, etc) -The people - for the most part people compete with the market and not each other -Diverse and inclusive culture -Flex-time ability to work from home -"Dress for your day" can dress more casual on days with no formal meetings -Macy's employee discount

    Cons

    -Benefits including health and dental insurance are the bare minimum when compared to the market -Don't observe all national holidays - Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, etc. -Employees are encouraged to "drive your development" you have to know what you want to do next and network to get the position through company portal

    Advice to Management

    "Driving your development" works to an extent, however, when you are open to new roles and functions it would be helpful to have SOME guidance from HR to understand what is available instead of just networking from role to role.
