This company cares about its employees and very understanding management team. If you are unclear of something they are always there to help you. This job is very fast pace and there is never really any down time. I enjoyed working for this company.

    Cons

If you do not like standing on your feet all day then this is not the job for you. I enjoyed being on my feet.

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Macy's is managing one way of doing things - not all the regional derivations. When it comes to looking at how customers show and what they want and how they want it, they are very inventive and edgy, especially in the large metropolitan markets. They can also respond locally to assortment issues in a way that no other retailer has been able to figure out or copy because of their new infrastructure.

    Cons

Keeping on talented leaders for the regional companies has its draw backs. Many are too entrenched in their thinking and old ways. This is mostly true in the support organization - logistics, IT and Human Resources. They have a layer of people who should be retired and replaced by the kind of forward people that run the marketing and merchandising.

    Advice to Management

Clean up the top heavy hierarchical leadership structure. You'll save money and move much faster.
