I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great vacation
Decent flexibility and work/life balance February-September

    Cons

Politics - Sales managers do not work as a team but instead compete
Compensation increase is merit based, but the measure of success can be outside of sales manager's control and furthers the competition v team work.
    No cost of living increase
    No work/life balance October-January
Not enough authority to do my job: no control over direct report's pay or schedule
Often have to work extra hours with little notice
Must be very patient for growth opportunities
Not must chance for salary increases, only yearly performance review.

    Advice to Management

Increase in compensation should have an automatic cost of living included, and merit based more on personality and talent development than $ results to plan.
