I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

- Great Work/Life Balance
- Great Culture
- Good mix of seasoned and young employees

Cons

- HR is not responsive and does not understand what the employees do
- The Development program is geared toward new employees and there are few opportunities for experienced employees
- Opportunities for Advancement are limited and HR often seeks external employees rather than look internally

Advice to Management

- HR should understand the employees they are managing and act as career counselors
- There should be a more extensive development program
- Better integrate LPR process with annual objectives
- Offer opportunities for business partners to share experiences and backgrounds

I have been working at Macy's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts, vacation time, good for college students, good for people who enjoys sales

    Cons

attendance point system (i dont know any company that has that), countless ralllies and meetings on how to improve sales, Managers will ask you to help them and in return they cant bend their back whenever you need a favor, aggressive sales people who takes their job seriously so they can be number 1 on the reports, cant change fri. or weekends

    Advice to Management

Improve the schedule system and have a meeting atleast 3 times a month, and have integrity of your company things like having sales almost every day and customers are using coupons on top of coupons is how the store doesnt make any money and devalues the items. you never see saks, bloomingdales and etc. doing that..Return policy should be 50 days and after that dont take any back

    I worked at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The more experienced employees know everything you'll want to know, more than the management.

    Cons

The less experienced employees, which is commonly management, won't know know ???? from shinola and the ratio is at least 1:10.

    Advice to Management

    Run!
The management has slimmed way down when they became Mac'y from the Bon Marche and my advice to management would be to leave, this company will treat you like a slave.
