I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good opportunities for growth, tons of training, they care about your happiness and want you to stay and move around in the company, lots of benefits, good salary for a designer, lots of money and always trying to improve. They also have lots of charitable initiatives and TRY to foster community. They seem to LOVE employee feedback and actually act on changes.

Cons

Lots of company wide b.s. to adhere to and a lot of voices giving input on everything

    I worked at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I'd say the discount but it isn't that great. The ability to advertise shifts, pick shifts up, the people (some) Macy money

    Cons

There aren't enough hours as is yet they keep hiring people. The system for picking up shifts aren't really fair full time then part time then "option 5" people get to see shifts. They expect too much for the little pay they give. Short lunches for big sales day the mall is crowded how am I going to get food and eat in a half hour. Not much communication with management. Favorites get picked over anyone else. Ridiculous quota on getting people to open cards

    Advice to Management

First pay people more then focus about your customer satisfaction. If employees feel like management cares about them as people and not disposable workers they will treat customers better. Focus more on managers and their favorites because a lot of people get away with things because they are a favorite. Delivery of items should be told to employees, customers want to know when things are coming back in stock.

I have been working at Macy's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Always busy, never bored; incredibly helpful staff/managers; paid lunch; paid orientation; 20% associate discount that you are able to use on top of sales & coupons, as well; medical and dental coverage; infant feeding/breast-pumping rooms.

    Cons

Low starting pay ($8; good for a student like myself looking to work for cash in pocket); if a part-time employee, you're last to pick your hours for the week.
