I have been working at Macy's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As a specialist, I receive monetary as well as clothing incentives if my brand meets the monthly goal.
If I cannot work a shift, I can advertise it for any other sales associate to pick up. (Usually works)
Great discount, but gets me in trouble!

    Cons

THE PAY! (Although I do frequently get monthly bonuses) I only make $8.20 an hour and I have worked part and fulltime for 3 years. The annual raises are a complete and utter joke.
The management often times asks for many favors but does not give anything in return, not even a simple thank you. We have many people who do not show up for shifts, and I will frequently get begged to stay and work extra hours to make it up. However, when I need help finding someone to cover a shift, they do not make an effort because they know that if no one takes my shift I will be there. A simple thank you for staying over would be nice.
I work in an area that is non-commission (misses clothing) that is located across from an area that is commission (ladies shoes). The shoe associates earn commission by selling not only shoes, but any other merchandise in the store. Often they will try to lure my customers over to their department to check out so that their paycheck will be increased. Although I do not make commission, I do have a sales goal to meet, and meeting that goal directly influences whether or not I receive monetary bonuses and raises. It is frustrating. Commissioned areas should only make commission on the merchandise within their department.

    Advice to Management

More pay will amount to better quality of work.
Do something about the commissioned areas earning commission on other departments' merchandise.
