I worked at Macy's Technology full-time

Pros

They will respect your work/life balance. Having already established retail giant Macy's.Inc gives you an edge when it comes to E-commerce business. They Acknowledge outstanding work done by individuals or teams and gives out recognitions.

Cons

Having newly hired managers who do not pick up their level of work is frustrating.
The long line of development process can be seen as dysfunctional especially when QA fails to find bugs/errors that should have been detected by developer level.
You might be expected to do work that requires programming knowledge but not the programming itself.

Advice to Management

Due to their fast growth they tend to bring people from outside.

I worked at Macy's Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Knowledge not required, only previous Macy's experience. You can go from a technician to a Manager with no experience as long as you are a "yes" person.

    Cons

HUGE turnover...low moral, NO benefits for 6 months (extremely high cost when available), NO 401k for 1-year, NO work from home policy, NO Bonus and the yearly merit is pretty non-existent! "The bench" is a process used to stop and hold any possibility of career advancement (an entire committee has to meet, meet and meet again..then all agree on placing you on the bench for a "possible" promotion)

    Advice to Management

Improve compensation and benefits, eliminate bench process, listen to your employees, eliminate most of the contaminated leadership, promote the qualified and NOT the years at company! STOP making excuses for your poor processes, fairly execute your policies across the board, stand up for great employees!
