I have been working at Manitoba Public Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Decent pay, move up a level every year
Very good benefits
Certain level of job security
Can work flex hours depending on the job you have

Cons

Senior management doesn't have a clue what's going on
No promotions, have to apply for every job to move up
Some jobs are over worked, some have nothing to do most of the week

Advice to Management

Needs to be proactive instead of reactionary
Needs a comprehensive vision for the company instead of doing so many piecemeal projects

I have been working at Manitoba Public Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great wages at all levels, good benefits, many work site locations in province, wide variety of streams for altering career, good coworkers, supporting community emphasized

    Cons

Union based so in-scope promotion is based on seniority. Out of scope, often more about who you know rather than performance. Troubles with new initiative implementation often frustrate staff at all levels, has continued for years.

    Advice to Management

Senior leadership has got to see the ongoing bad attitudes between operations and projects. Scopes are too narrowed and not piloted so negative issues have huge effect on staff, morale, and customers, and are not quickly fixed (full implementation means the problems can be huge when discovered and complex to fix). Update project methodology and understand, listen to project people's expert advise when they recommend scope expansion to avoid an anticipated implementation issue. Plan scope better and involve change management, ergonomics AT THE BEGINNING!
