    Pros

    The licenses and experience are legit
    Very little/No barriers to entry to an industry that is very hard to get in
    Cold Calling Experience
    The opportunity to own your book of business after 1-2 years

    Cons

    No salary
    Very long sales process (expect no virtually no income for the first year)
    Manager conveniently forgets thing at the worse possible moment
    lots and lots of cold calling
    Culture is dog eat dog --- make sure you follow up on your pay.
    If you don't push and ask questions, you get no info
    Propaganda
    They don't keep accurate stats on their sales process

    Advice to Management

    Your juniors are not building a business, they are your commission only employees
    Your business model is unscalable

    I have been working at Manulife full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Several conferences throughout the year with lots of free alcohol!

    Cons

    Sweat shop environment that is driven by call centre metrics: dials and meetings booked.

    Advice to Management

    It's nice that our CEO gets a raise, what about regular Manulife employees? What happened to controlling expenses? Management should lead by example.
