    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great for employees. They focus on people but do not necessarily pay the most or offer the best benefits when compared to the rest of the industry. They are however willing to move you up quickly if you are willing to move around. The management relies on the engineers who actually run the process and generally take their considerations and opinions as expert opinions in the field. Since the engineer runs the process at the time they are considered the authority for the unit and their knowledge is valuable when considering projects to complete or upgrades to implement in the field.

    Cons

Low pay/benefits. Compared to other companies in the oil/gas refinery industry, Marathon has a much lower salary. An engineer at a competing company can make up to 25-30 percent more than the same engineer at Marathon. Have to move around to move up the ladder. For example, an engineer who wants to move up to management must eventually move from refinery to refinery in order to move up the technical or managerial ladder because there are so few employees relatively speaking to others in the industry that you must move around because people in the same refinery do not move as much.

    Advice to Management

Safety, safety safety. You need to put more emphasis on it.
