I have been working at Markit full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

New offices, large desk space, spacious working environment.
Free breakfast for the early birds.
Ping pong tables and some beans bags.
Management do listen and culture is improving.

Cons

Not possible to audit overtime through HR system.
Little/no team bonding or leadership.
Too much firefighting, no time to train.
Learning and development opportunities not focused towards individual needs.

Advice to Management

Review employee CVs, you could be under-valuing employees who have real experience from non-financial backgrounds.
Encourage employees to take up to 3 study days self-study per year via HR system.

    Great work-life balance. Flexible working hours
    Stress levels are up to individual to decide
    Wide range of products and services to be learnt
    Leader in niche products

    Low emphasis on training and development
    Career progression unclear
    Communication between senior, mid and low levels of the organisation are infrequent. This often results in unclear goals.

    Advice to Management

    Engage more with employees by holding more town halls. Have a clear, defined career track progression for each individual. Adopt 360 performance appraisals. Promotion should be merit based.
