I have been working at Markit full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work, always lots of exciting projects - entrepreneurial and growing fast. Stock options add to compensation...

    Cons

Pay is about 20% lower than working in a bank or fund in equivalent roles. Hard to rise up in some positions due to senior staff never leaving because of the stock options they were awarded at very low strikes 5-7 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Need to reward staff who have been in roles less than 2 years and therefore have stock options at high strikes appropriately in order to retain these staff.

I worked at Markit as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The culture was very laid back. Had a ping pong table in the office which was a lot of fun. The dress code was very casual

    -Laid back culture
    -Catered lunch
-Effort to organize a comprehensive intern program

    Cons

The entry level work was very boring. Middle management does not trust entry level with a lot of responsibility. Not a great career if you have any aspiration. If you're satisfied not doing much and make a pretty good salary, then this is the career for you.

    -Awful middle management
    -Boring work
    -Employees lack motivation
    -"Office Space" vibe

    Advice to Management

Very good upper management, but middle management and entry level is awful.
