I worked at Marriott International full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Marriott International was a great company to work for. They offered flexible schedules, awesome benefits, and a great work environment. i was employed at a reservation center, but I was in constant contact with other Marriott entities worldwide. I t was a good job.

Cons

You have to have a lot of flexibility when working, depending on the nature of your job. You also may have to travel. If you are not a people person then it is not for you.

Advice to Management

Hire me again!!!

    Pros

    Great Discounts on hotels & good vacation time that you can earn

    Cons

    -never really felt like part of the team
    -preach a lot about family and principles and how they care about workers but do not practice what they preach
    -Decline of brand...Guest complains...Now some of the other brands in the company are okay Like Renaissance & Ritz-Carlton
    -Horrible supervisors... advanced because they have been there a long time rather than on merit

    Advice to Management

    When you make suggestions and try to change operations, base it on data. Supervisors and managers at the hotel lack analytical skills. Made decision indifferent to data. When you ask question, for reasons, or for them to support claims they get irritable and say they don't need evidence they just know.

    Employee hotel discounts were fantastic
    Friendly environment
    Loved the staff

    Cons

    The one I worked at had managers with lots of longevity and loved their job, so there was never an opportunity to move up.

    Advice to Management

    If you don't have opportunities at your own property for advancement, assist staff in finding opportunities at other locations.
