I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Flexible rota, free parking, nice uniform, staff rate discounts, nice people around to work with

Cons

No opportunities for experienced, promotions only for who knows whom, drag & drop promotions, senior management oblivious to staff needs, cheeky methods to spy employees, rules applied on as and when basis, procedures change when GM & Dir Ops change , HR practically un functional

Advice to Management

Read employee performance reviews ESP HR director, know employees personally, take personal interest in their development, there are other people around rather than graduates and the ones close to your hearts, don't change rules to suit your management style but follow Marriott handbook, improve staff food, give experienced employees opportunity to excel, stop spying on staff and managers, treat all customers equally and not on personal terms, race, origin,

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, is open 24 hours so you can work any shift, good place to move up in the business.

    Cons

Like most jobs involving service this is a low paying job.

    Advice to Management

An incentive program involving sales or upgrades would be nice. Not that it would be required, but if employees went the extra mile some type of reasonable compensation would be appreciated.

I worked at Marriott International as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Young and energetic staff.
Human Resource is extremely fast and offers lots of training.
Senior management is often quite helpful with work-related issues.
A good number of days off in a month in comparison to other players in the hotel industry.

    Cons

    Long working hours at times.
The pay scale is low and employee retention rate is quite average too.

    Advice to Management

Provide career guidance to employees. Work harder at retaining employees than in replacing them. Promote deserving employees at a faster rate so that you don't end up losing them.
