I worked at Marriott International part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great team, good training, kind of repetitive and basic but overall you go in knowing that you are ready.

Cons

None too many. The back of the house is kind of weird. The food in the cafeteria was pretty terrible too. I can't complain though, it was super cheap. Like $1 per meal.

Advice to Management

Allow employees to switch departments sooner, and ease up on the probationary period.

I have been working at Marriott International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Enjoyed the chance to enhance the guest experience, and Marriott's dedication to training all employees.

    Cons

Hotels make lots of money, but pay very little to their employees.

    Advice to Management

Not really to management, but more to ownership - the more you invest in your employees, the longer they will stay. Having to train and hire constantly wears down your middle management, and with pay so low to the line level you will always have high turnover.

I have been working at Marriott International part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved Marriotts core values, "Success is never final" and "take care of your people, they will take care of you." My experience at this hotel was poor even though I worked hard but I would give company another try.
    The pay was good

    Cons

The management didn't know anything about employees how people work. I found it didn't matter how hard I worked the manager sided with the other staff because they were there longer.
If you didn't know Spanish employees won't like you, everyone there speaks it.
There was no room for advancement or other training, as outlined in core values.
Other areas of the hotel could order food, manager wouldn't allow it.

    Advice to Management

    Feed employees better food.
Know your workers better or you loose good people who are dedicated.
Talk to your employees more. The manager said I didn't have as much experience but never knew anything about my experience or talked to me about what I know about the job.
You lost a hard worker who cared about there job and was dedicated because of lots of lack of communication and didn't know my work.
