Pros

The hotel discount is a truly great benefit. As an IT professional you will get to work with the latest and greatest technologies.

Cons

The balance between work and life is non existent for associates in operations. On call duties are grueling. In addition to on call, the majority of systems work must be performed during the night and weekends. Salaries are not competitive with the rest of the market, especially given the demands of the positions.

Advice to Management

Increase total staff and pay for current staff.

    Pros

Hotel discounts, Benefits working with the latest IT technology out there.

    Cons

If you asked me 5 years ago Marriott was a good place to work in the IT field. Now after a few years in this place you will start to see all the dirt that was being swept under the run. The pay scale that Marriott uses as an industry measurement is from the 50's. They will never be able to compete with other companies out there. Their motto is to bring in lower IT talent burn them out and once they realize they are worth more than they are currently being paid bring in another junior type IT person to repeat the process. Instead of Work/Life it’s Work/Work from 7 day 60 hour work weeks to Holiday mandatory work days. With the lack of talent in the groups if you’re a senior person with skill you’re going to get hammered with the workload that just increases and increases. With the heavy workload, low pay and political nonsense it can take years off your life.

    Advice to Management

Marriott does the same. Also a complete overhaul of the pay scale needs to be done if you want to compete with other companies out there and also keep your employees happy. I've seen major IT talent walk out the door due to this and the workload. Management you are aware of all these issues with the yearly company wide surveys its time to act on these issues instead of further hiding them.
