I have been working at Marshalls part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great co-workers and environment.
Flexible hours.
Good starter job.

Cons

Can be boring, tiring, and frustrating at times.
Dealing with customers 24/7 can get tedious.
Awful raises.

Advice to Management

Mix the job up for a cashier. Standing for 8 hours in one spot can make time drag on and makes being there painfully boring.

I have been working at Marshalls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good starter job. Flexible scheduling if you work part-time. Extremely busy work environment and constant changing of duties so as not to get bored.

    Cons

Horrendous starting salary and wage increases. Full-time is considered 30 hours a week, making it difficult to make a decent living, Communication between management and associates is sparse and vague. Full-time associates are given too many tasks and not enough hours to complete them. No incentives for hard work and dedication. Limited career opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Learn to communicate with your employees, especially your full-timers. Encourage instead of trying to hinder employees career advancement. Don't retaliate against employees for using the open door policy. Get to know your employees. Showing that you care boasts morale and will likely drive employees to do more than just the minimum requirements. Schedule your full-time staff 35 hours a week and you'll see a difference in productivity.
