Pros

Company is restructuring and becoming more professional and efficient. Senior management communicates well with the overall employee community. There is a definite plan and vision moving forward that is communicated. Senior Management is not afraid to answer any questions during town hall meetings. The company is becoming more streamlined and shedding the bulky inefficiencies from acquisitions.

Cons

In IT, there are nearly as many managers as there are staff. They don't perform due diligence when buying products which leads to poorly implemented solutions, or solutions that don't meet the requirements that were never captured.

Advice to Management

You hired professionals to work for you, listen to them. Gather requirements before buying products and you won't have to cover up that all that money was wasted on an unused product. Senior management should pay closer attention to large budget projects within IT to ensure the business will actually use them, and they should perform a full review of the competency and qualifications of IT Management.

    Pros

There is no good reason to work for Masonite. The company has become a complete mess.

    Cons

Documentation of procedures are outdated and the employee is supposed to know which apply and which don't. Operations are decentralized with very few business processes centralized. Professional level staff are not properly supported as the locations sometimes are in areas where adequate staffing at the clerical level is difficult (therefore centralization of many processes would improve operations). Plant manager shooting herself in the foot with her HR decisions. Not growing her people. Employees are under-educated and under-motivated to improve their lot in life.

    Advice to Management

Centralize operations. Standardize across all locations part numbers, product configurations, bill of materials. Oh yea, and support the staff at the operational levels. To expect the Controller to maintain the Bill of Materials at the location level is counterproductive and frusterating considering the systems and staff in place.
