I have been working at Massage Envy part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great teamwork!! It can get pretty chaotic but massage truly helps!! It's nice to
Give people a chance to come in on a monthly basis for wellness. The discounted
Massages are a huge plus too!

Cons

It can be at times truly chaotic!!!! Some therapists don't like
The front desk, and we have to field complaints from clients.
For what what we do, we don't get paid enough.

Advice to Management

Please let us know when we do a good job. It's
stressful when all you hear are bad comments
about you or just things you did wrong.

I have been working at Massage Envy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You are almost guaranteed to be hired; they turn away very few people.
If you are a good massage therapist, you will have a steady clientele (if you do not have steady clientele after a month or so, re-evaluate your skills)
If you have absolutely zero clients for the day, they will pay you $10 an hour (I've heard that there are stipulations on this, so be sure to clarify with the manager)
The only selling that you will ever have to do (if you're a therapist) is a brief sales pitch to new clients to encourage them to sign up.
On top of the hourly rate per treatment, you get a starting Request Bonus of $2 (meaning that if a client requests you by name, you get an extra $2)
You get a steady raise of $1 per year, up to five years. The raise is applied to your Request Bonus.

    Cons

You will stop receiving raises after 5 years (it becomes too expensive for the company)
The pay scale might seem prohibitive compared to other places (starts at $15/hr... they focus on quantity)
You will have to watch your transactions like a hawk (if there aren't at least two clients missing from your paycheck every pay period, you are the exception)

I have been working at Massage Envy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good commission and bonus incentives.

    Cons

Owners were downright RUDE. The male owner reprimanded me while he was angry at another female co-worker... after throwing a roll of toilet paper in her vicinity and screaming at her for cleaning the bathroom! She was closing up... that is part of her job! His wife talks down to people almost every chance she gets. At first the job was cool, but I always hated when THOSE two were in managing. They are not nice... This location was in Northern NJ, but I don't want to say too much in order to keep anonymous.

    Advice to Management

    Be nicer!
