    Pros

Mattermost truly cares about it's employees. It's evident from the social events, benefits, perks, and reception to employee feedback. - Unlimited time off, company sponsored holidays to spend time with friends and family. - Remote first culture, gives you a chance to work with talented people from around the globe all from your own home. - Generous home office budget, they cover everything you need to setup a home office. - Solid growth trajectory. There's a lot upside in the market and Mattermost is building out a unique product offering to capitalize. - They trust employees to make impactful decisions. Not overburdened with the bureaucracy you find a larger corps.

    Cons

    - Standard startup growing pains; priorities can change quickly so you need to be flexible in your role. - The product/marketing/sales offerings can change so you need to be comfortable with pivots and trust in the long term potentail.

Some nice perks. Some really significant red flags.

    Pros

    - Some nice general HR perks such as remote working, budget for internet, office setup reimbursement, unlimited PTO, good healthcare options, 401k matching... - Because the company is a small startup, you'll likely have a huge opportunity to own your domain and make a big impact.

    Cons

    - Lacking in visionary product direction. Product is constantly ripping off Slack and really needs to find a way to differentiate. - The CEO is extremely hard to work with in a lot of ways. He is extremely risk adverse and stuck in the past. He doesn't trust the people he hires to make big decisions (even though he personally interviewed everyone at the company). He's overly involved in subjects where he has no expertise. He laid off multiple entire departments in the last year and most of the remaining employees don't even know why. - Because some entire teams were laid off in the last year, there are "new teams" built from scratch very recently. Not only is this hard culturally, but it also puts a strange divide between the more tenured teams and the brand new ones. Collaboration cross-functionally is definitely tricky.
