Pros

Great training, opportunity to grow, and lots of freedom. Guests come to you there is no looking outside looking for sales. Different creative ideas are praised upon to share.

Cons

Long Hours, an average of 46 hours a week. Sales depend alot on what store you are located in.

I worked at Mattress Firm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are in a good market, you do have great potential to make money. I made some pretty good bonuses during my time working there. The base salary is decent but the commission makes it all worth it.

    Cons

Work/life balance is non-existent. Everyone already works 50+ hours a week, but then they extend hours with no warning at all and make Saturday morning meetings that are usually pointless causing a 12+ hour work day. You will usally work in a store alone for 11 hours, you can't leave or take a break. There is no one to relieve you for a break. They say you are hired for a city, but what they don't tell you is that they consider it to be the same location within a 70 mile radius. They recruit college kids telling them they are entering a management program. News Flash - everyone is hired as a "manager". That's how they get away with paying salary and no over-time. I can keep going on and on. If you are currently a working professional do yourself a favor and steer clear from this place.

    Advice to Management

Quit promoting people based on how many "shout-outs" they send through email. Your corporate culture is a joke most people hate working there but are sucked in because the money is decent and we work such long hours it is hard to look for other work. If someone raises a concern, they are automatically labelled a complainer and are marred for the rest of their employment time.
