Pros

The people working on the production floor are great and very hard workers. The people on the floor know that needs to be done. The plant has 3 unions so the pay is good.

Cons

Keeps cutting staff to make good numbers. More than half of the equipment is old and they keep putting money in to them when they should replace them. Some of the equipment is 20 or more years old and Mauser GMBH makes their own line of new equipment.

Advice to Management

Stop trying to make the plant run like GM and just make a good product. Upgrade your equipment and stop putting money in to very old equipment. The people that investers that own Mauser should take a very hard look at how their money is wasted.

    I worked at Mauser full-time

    Pros

Rock solid manufacturing company. Truly believes in regulatory compliance, safety, quality and customer service. They are privately owned, so people really are an asset to them. They are an international company that supplies product to all types of industries, so they are nearly recession proof.

    Cons

Way to quick to shuffle executive management to solve operational issues and no one from corporate management talks to plant level management. As Plant Manager, I had 4 bosses in 2 years and saw them send the best sales rep they had for my product line out of Houston area, the biggest market. Then, no one noticed that well over half of my business was from his new territory.

    Advice to Management

Quit second guessing your executive level selections and aline them regionally. Then, do not move them for at least 3 years. Plant level management needs to know the product. Executive/ regional needs to know the local market for finished goods, raw materials and staffing, state laws in HR and regulatory compliance, area contractors and possible shared services/ equipment other plants in the area to support plant level management with these functions.
