Recommends
Approves of CEO

Pros

- You get a very extensive exposure to all the product development stages
- You get to interact with a lot of bright people and learn new things
- Innovation is encouraged

Cons

- Bad data management and reuse
- Lot of push at the cost of innovation and quality to shorten product life cycles

Advice to Management

- Add technical people to the management who respect the need for innovation and quality as a long term goal rather than just going after short term profits.
- Improve data management and re-use, probably ask employees how to do it and reward them.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

There are a great number of intelligent individuals who are support and helpful. Also, the pay is fairly good when stock compensation is considered into the mix.

    Cons

Hard work and a superlative work ethic are not recognized. The company as a whole tends to be focused more on negative reinforcement as the principal motivation strategy and micro-management is common.

    Advice to Management

    Two things:
    1) Trust your employees. Virtually ever member of the staff has a BS or higher in a challenging and technical field. Trust them unless they give you a good reason to not. Much of my frustration in the past was directly rooted in having my opinions ignored; often after having been asked for it in the first place.
    2) Reward excellence. When the only metric for success is not being punished, you only work hard enough to not be punished. This applies to monetary compensation, bonuses, promotions and simple verbal accolades.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Good stock options, given out freely to all levels of employees, not just the management. Good location, close to everything in the south bay.

    Cons

It can be a negative atmosphere at times. Every group is like its own company, you really have to cover yourself here at all times.

    Advice to Management

He needs to be more dictatorial like the founder & original CEO. Too much waffling on key decisions. Needs to be more in touch with the employees.
