    I worked at McDonald's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, easy to take holidays, pay is competitive for the type of work, good social atmosphere with coworkers... the managers can be dodgy but once you've been there a while you know the ins and outs of it and know how you can work the system

    Cons

rude customers, (some) horrible managers - used to change my clocked hours on the computer to keep the expenses down on their shift - have to be vigilant checking on it and sometimes takes a couple of weeks to get paid what you were supposed to.. and the managers can be very rude and unprofessional

    Advice to Management

Crack down on managers acting unprofessionally - eg screaming/swearing at employees. Encourage employees to report such incidents to an appropriate independent person.

Have a protocol for dealing with customers who abuse staff (eg swearing) or make innapropriate remarks to them (eg sexual, racist) - they should not be served. This protocol should be part of the initial training and should be enforced by all staff and especially managers.

I have been working at McDonald's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free food, there's lots of people to make friends with, the staff is nice, there's a scolarship oppurtunity, part time is okay.

    Cons

    Bad attitude with most customers
Some bad things about McDonalds is that the meat they use comes from cows that are raised in Brazil instead of here in the United States. Also, almost 3/4 of the menu at McDonalds is cooked in grease instead of naturally cooked like some of the food you would find at Burger King or Jack in the Box. Although both Jack in the Box and Burger King cook their food in grease as well, there is much more that is cooked in grease at McDonalds. Finally, if you are talking about employment standards, McDonalds hires workers from any background such as people with a criminal background, their management and advancement programs within the companies are much worse than other restaurants
