"Discriminatory at its best!"

I worked at McKenna Long & Aldridge full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Nothing good to say about this firm.

Cons

They don't promote black employees. I was prevented from applying to several jobs. There was always an excuse ranging from "oh you will be bored in this position" or "your peers will not be happy if you moved in to this position".

Advice to Management

Learn how to appreciate diversity in the company. Racism has no place in the workplace.

I worked at McKenna Long & Aldridge full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some wonderful people who really care and want to do a good job. There are people who are supportive and helpful and all around nice people who make working there really enjoyable at times.

    Cons

Many attorneys treat staff poorly. Even staff who are smart and work hard. Yes, this is a law firm but you can treat people with respect.
There are some very big egos and personalities - and management doesn't seem to care to correct bad behavior.

    Advice to Management

Don't let your attorneys get away with bad behavior.
Realize that people who are treated like adults will perform better.
Talk to your staff before making major leadership changes.

    Cons

Law firm hours (even if reasonable like MLA) are long and hard at times
Some practice areas are better than others

    Advice to Management

I learned a lot at McKenna Long and ALdridge. The did a decent communication job, and provided good feedback for my career. I recommend MLA.
