    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Benefits, amount of paid time off is great. Schedule is flexible. Most employees get along pretty well with each other which helps. People are willing to help others.

    Cons

Upper management wants everything focused on padding statistics and not always fixing issues. Pay could be a little better. Also, training and knowledge on new products being sold to customers is almost non existent. Customers know more than most of the people who are supposed to support brand new products. Also, staffing needs increased. There is hardly enough staff in certain departments.

    Advice to Management

Restructure how certain departments run. A help desk should be about fixing issues, not worrying about answering the phone as quick as possible.

    Pros

In the IT half of the company, it's easy to get recognition for doing a good job. If you carry a "think like an owner" mentality, it will get you far. Most people in the company have blinders on and can't see the bigger picture, so if you can break-free of that mindset, do a good job, and show people how beneficial actions like that can be, you'll get recognized.
The company has recognized that the current way of doing business isn't sustainable, so they are implementing changes to change course. They're doing it from the top-down by removing incompetent manager and they're doing it from the bottom-up by hiring employees with the mindset they want to foster.
Also, many people who work there are willing to help when you need it, even if they already have a lot to do themselves.

McKesson's IT half is definitely changing, so it's a great place to be if you're willing to put forth the effort and assist with the change.

    Cons

It's definitely a corporation. If you don't like wearing collared shirts and dress slacks, this isn't the place to work. The inertia of the "that's the way we've always done it" mentality can be hard to break, even when trying to implement a quick, easy change.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, but do it faster. Many middle managers are helping destroy your company, not build it. Keep cleaning house and don't be afraid to take out incompetent employees below the president and CEO level of the company's Health IT side.

You've got good vision at the top. You've got good work ethic at the bottom. Now get people in the middle who can translate that vision from the top into actionable instructions for employees at the bottom.
