Approves of CEO

Pros

Competitive benefits. Employee stock purchase plan. Excellent review processes and feedback loop.
McKesson is a true leader in the healthcare industry. The senior leadership is very bright and experienced. During the recession when many companies were laying off employees, McKesson was investing in employees.
Very informal style of leadership.

Cons

The building is old and depressing. There is plenty of space for an on-site fitness facility but they will not install one. There is very little training for potential leaders.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Attractive products, good training and opportunties for advancement. Total compensation was fair, but the way the payouts were handled were not realistic.

    Cons

No new advancement on the automation product and our accounts were removing them. very silo'ed organization, not much communication between different divisions

    Advice to Management

Hire some women in leadership roles and get communication started. Pay attention to performance and assign mentors to coach personnel to take the next step

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Their products make it possible for Medical Professionals to provide better overall healthcare. That's worth something.

    Cons

Non-existent training. They give you some books to read and classes on the application's client interfaces that are totally worthless for technical people who are doing installs, upgrades or database work. You're supposed to get information about how to troubleshoot the applications from your peers. The only problem is that the people who've survived the longest are strapped with the job of jumping from one project to another and firefighting all the time because the installs rarely go smoothly. The reason for this is that engineers are put into the position of supporting the apps long before they're ready and expected to sink or swim. They're basically training their people on the client's dime which seems unethical to me. Management sets tight deadlines and makes promises to the customer that things will happen on schedule which might actually happen if they had provided adequate training and guidance for their support people. The stress level working for them is incredible. Don't even consider it unless you have super human coping skills.

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with reality and start showing some respect for the people who work for you.
