Pros

No better place to launch a career -- truly world-class clients, working on clients' biggest and most important issues, the smartest group of people around

Cons

Intense competition among associates and analysts -- everybody is incredibly smart, so you have to work super hard and align yourself with the right partners to get ahead. Long hours, lots of travel -- but you also have lots of control over where you go

Advice to Management

Look for more ways to reward and recognize great performance

    Pros

Incredible people that want to hear your take on everything as well as people that are able to push you to higher levels of thinking.
    Amazing benefits.
Awesome work life balance for the knowledge network. You can work as much as you want if you are on an interesting project, but can easily dial it back when you want to have more personal time.

    Cons

Lack of a real career path in the knowledge network. A promotion is just a title change, you are still doing the same job which becomes very easy after a while.

    Advice to Management

Hire some people outside your core 10 schools in the US. Go after the occasional top candidates from public schools or other similar schools to add some diversity to the firm. Everyone now has similar pedigrees and everyone seems geared towards similar career paths. I think the firm would be better off with a more diverse population.

Overall lifestyle can be demanding with Monday to Thursday travel particularly difficult for those with families. However, there might be ways to mitigate by working with the company
