I worked at McNichols Company full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Decent salary, benefits, nice people to work with. Beautiful building to work in.

Cons

Very "family oriented", religious. Sometimes felt it was a "good ol' boy" network.

Advice to Management

Fresh faces may have something to add that you haven't seen/recognized.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at McNichols Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*Decent health benefits from day 1.
    * Training classes are very comprehensive
    * Leave work with absolutely 0 stress
*Ok Customer service experience, not a sales gig.

    Cons

*If you are expecting to be compensated for your sales revenue, profit generation...please stop reading this review and apply to another company. Bonuses are not given to your effort. They are given on managements opinion of you for that quarter and if you were "buddy-buddy" enough with them to earn your bonus.
    * A common office expression used by management was," It's not about the numbers." however you will be docked and written up for not achieving a revenue output unbeknownst to you until you are written up for not "achieving" this said mystery number.
    * Witnessed the president of the company and all of upper management dressed up in transformer costumes to promote the yearly changing motivational theme, "Be a hero to your customers". (A fantastic hit at Chucky-Cheese perhaps...but credible leadership..?
    * Favoritism is rampant in branch's and can be the reason you may be promoted, or let go.

    Advice to Management

Stop dressing up in costumes to increase branch morale, and start rewarding your "sales staff" with the most important factor of increasing a grown adult with financial obligations and responsibilities: $$$.

    Pros

The longevity of McNichols name in Steel Industry meant the customers always sought out McNichols. No cold calling required.

    Cons

Family owned company (3rd generation) has revamped the company from a "Customer Relations" business to a "Call Center". The tenure & experience of personnel went from average of 10-25 yrs down to less than 3 yrs which in turn affects customers. The phones constantly ring into "call center" but ability to grow relationships with customers is a thing of the past.
