Pros

Cultural diversity is wonderful.peer support is great staff interaction well promoted when addressing our clients needs and problems we save a lot of lives

Cons

IT support is nineteenth century-- that is to say the same since 1899

Advice to Management

Efforts to increase productivity, create a hectic stressful, helter-skelter, unsafe environment for professional staff and clients, leaving staff, hospital and clients at risk. IT support is nineteenth century-- that is to say the same since 1899. appearance seem to be the greatest importance. I observe frequent rudeness occurring because of this

I have been working at MedStar Washington Hospital Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will learn a LOT about healthcare IT and there is plenty of work to do. There are many bright minds to pick inside and outside of the department and the work itself can be rewarding.

    Cons

The work itself is enjoyable, but the environment can be terrible. Morale is low in the IT/IS department and it can be hard to get things done for the people you support in a hospital this size. Employees talk openly about finding a new job and "he/she quit" is a recurring quip. It is not in the job description, but you are expected to be on call 24/7.

    Advice to Management

Organize groups according to their strengths and personalities to get projects done.

    Pros

Work was intellectually stimulating and was invaluable in terms of academic development. Management was very helpful in education and enhancing intellectual stimulation.

    Cons

The research positions may often be unstructured and because the position are very temporary it becomes difficult to become immersed in a project.

    Advice to Management

Management is very competent and worker satisfaction is very high. Better communication with all employers could help further improve this relationship and improve morale.
