    I worked at Mediacom Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good peers to work with
    One can learn IT and telecom skills, If they apply themselves
    Company vehicle (but this is used against you)

    Cons

    minimum pay
    high stress
    dead-end job
    Senior management relies on intimidation, not innovation
    Low-level managers are yes-men and have no professional experience
    Entry-level dispatchers tell 10+ year technicians how to do their jobs
    turnover is awful (managers and experienced staff leave daily)
    25% turnover was a goal in Des Moines office.......A GOAL!!

    Advice to Management

    Encourage youremployees, and be willing to stand up for what is right.

    Pros

    Many friendly and helpful people. Offices are modern and well laid out. Coutesy services are very comprehensive and really do spoil the emplyee when they do not have to pay for it.

    Cons

    Company is unresponsive to problems with customer service. Does not strive to reatain current customer base and does not represent itself well in the community, Competition from satellite is severe and not combatted correctly.

    Advice to Management

    Begin program to save current customers and solve customer issues. Work to find ways to market against competition, including local city cable systems, that make customers want the service. Start hiring more qualified people as installers and techs and pay a better salry to maintain a quality workforce.
