I have been working at Medline Industries full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Private company, debt-free and growing every single year! In healthcare and working to improve patients' lives. You'll feel good working for a cause like that. Great family atmosphere, employees are very friendly and helpful, the pace is fast and the company is results-oriented. You can get a great deal of experience very quickly.

Cons

Would prefer being in the city of Chicago. Some of the policies are old school.

Advice to Management

Continue to make progress on work/life initiatives.

I worked at Medline Industries full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Employees are empowered and driven to succeed, so if your equally driven than it is great place to work. If your not willing to do what you have to do to get the job done, than its not the place for you. if you want to make a name for yourself, learn how to run a successful business and keep improving than work at Medline

    Cons

The pay structure is very different. Your base pay is lower than average, but everyone is paid off a bonus / performance system which is 10%-50% up to 100% for sales jobs. It is a good idea to motivate employees to focus on how to bring value to the company and succeed. This is not profit sharing. Most of the time, it is personal performance with partial company performance.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, debt free, privately owned and growing like crazy!!!! However your slowly drifting away from what made Medline a great place to work. When I started an English major could learn to be IT guy or divisional president. Now people are picked from IVY schools with specific skills. Maybe its the job market and the skill sets are needed for the direction the company is going.... but still, the culture is changing. Everyone is becoming a number and your measured by your degree. All the younger kids are going back to get their MBA, Masters etc... to get an edge over the other guys in the office. Not because they need the additional knowledge, but just for getting an edge over the other guy. it helps, but wasn't needed in the old days, thus the sub culture is changing from the bottom up.
