State of the art technology

Cons

Lots of red tape but you can expect that with an FDA regulated company.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Medtronic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits and pay are good and the company mission is why so many employees stay.

    Cons

Poor training, major quality issues, too many layers of management, constant RIFs and lack of respect for the employees.

    Advice to Management

Quit trimming the worker bees from Medtronic-try cutting a layer of management and you will save a ton of money. Omar is cutting costs in the wrong area and throwing too much money into a new quality system that has no road map. Medtronic used to be a great place to work when I started-it became just a paycheck the past 2 years.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Medtronic as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has a lot to offer. Size of it allows interaction with a lot of departments (quality, manufacturing, clinical, sustaining, etc.).

    Cons

If you don't have an engineering degree and aren't proactive on a day to day basis you won't be able to get past the technologist /technician position.
