I have been working at Melexis full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

International company likes to hire college grads willing to work cheap and lots of hours. Great place to start, or get citizenship to your host country. Products and technologies are decent. With luck, a few may actually do well in the next several years.

    Cons

The ownership is very cliquey, and this is reflected throughout the management hierarchy, ridiculous project schedules, unspoken expectations for long hours, only way to move up is to suck up. Merit pay is based on things beyond the average person's control, and reviews are only good if you're helping your manager look better than they are (most are pretty bad at their jobs, here). Everyone I've met, seems tired of... bad management. HR is horrible, and in some cases, given full site management authority (even over Engineering!). . A few saving products, could make this a more profitable company over the next few years, but after that, kaput!

    Pros

Very helpful. Open to opinions and suggestions. Game room is awesome with ping pong table, foosball, and musical instruments.

    Cons

Not much design and software development is done in this office.

I worked at Melexis for less than a year

    Pros

People are very friendly, everyone wants to help, overall feel is pleasant

    Cons

HR function is antiquated and lacks sophistication. New hires are expected to learn on their own with no direction or training given. There is a HUGE disconnect with the way things are done in the US verse Belgium so for some it could be a big issue. Pay is sub-par for the area but the role was over exaggerated to begin with.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire higher level staff when all you want is old school low level person. Anyone with skills and knowledge would approach the HR function with drive and look at the whole picture and not narrow focus, and strive for partnerships at all levels by knowing the business not just the function. Segregation of staff due to function does not make a company it makes a bunch of sub cultures that do their own thing.
