I have been working at Memorial Hermann Health System full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good teamwork amongst nurses and other ancillary staff. Friendly doctors. Only there for a year then relocated.

Cons

Some departments had negative staff, especially the phlebotomists.

Advice to Management

Felt the new CNO at Memorial City showed favoritism.

I have been working at Memorial Hermann Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

goodly amount PTO, spiritual holidays, and personal time off.

    Cons

computerized charting goes too far. you must drag a heavy cow wherever you go and scan every bracelet and every pill, eye drop, and ointment. it doesn't matter if the scan bar is smudged and won't. you will be disciplined. you must join a committee which exists just to bring it closer to magnet status. if you forget to chart one turn or one piece of education, you will receive an e mail. if you do not lable one tubing, you ill also receive an email. if one unreasonable horribly behaved needy patient or family member turns you in for not smiling while you are being yelled at, you will be discilplined/ spoken to. your whereabouts will be known at ALL times because you will wear a "nurse locater", along with a personal phone which will ring constantly. most days you will work til you drop from exhaustion, as soon as one discharges you will get two more as we cannot say no to ER

    Advice to Management

management, there's nothing you can really do because i know your hands are tied by beauracratic red tape, jacho and medicare requirements.

I worked at Memorial Hermann Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The work is very rewarding. I loved getting to be part of so many succesful patient experiences. It is also very helpful to be part of such a large healthcare system . . . it means there are many diverse job opportunities available.

    Cons

The hours and physicians can be very demanding.

    Advice to Management

I think it's like every company - most managers are very open to employee suggestions but there are some leaders that need to learn how important it is to appreciate their employees.
