I worked at Mercer full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Mercer officers a generous benefits package and most of the people who work there are likable. Being a CSR is definitely a good entry level job, but something that most people would not want to do for the long run.

Cons

They struggle with employee recognition, but I believe they're working to improve this. They also aren't very understanding of emergency situations, even if it is a one time thing. This is mostly due to them needing you there to make their queue. Mercer is very strict on statistics, which causes many to complain. However, people should know what they're getting into with a customer service job in a call center, and stop complaining.

Advice to Management

Stop mixing business with your personal life.

    Pros

    Friendly people, middle of NYC so plenty to do, nice office space, access to local and regional resources.

    Cons

    Siloed management, promotions were not always merit based. Peter priniciple in middle and upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Back then, I would have told them to concentrate on increasing revenue as opposed to cutting costs (reducing head count). Look at employee throughput, not just gross revenue.
