    Pros

Mercer was always looking for ways to support employees and it came from top leadership. Anything from being proactive to tell employees to work from home during inclement weather to asking managers if there were any employees who were feeling strained. Also held regular fun events/activities.

    Cons

For me the location and commute was the biggest con, since my location as next to a toll road and attempting to take any route other than the toll road added considerable time to my commute. Worth the inconvenience to work at a great company and with fantastic team members.

    Pros

Flexible work Very little micro managing The culture at Mercer is very much that you are treated like an adult and your projects, time management, flexibility are all up to you. The work is overall interesting and meaningful

    Cons

Continues to use older technology and methods with little to no desire or reason to update. Very rigid to change and obsessed with best practices that are rarely adapted or updated. Programming in SAS and PROC SQL and working minimally with Excel, with little to no exposure to other programs. Not a very robust training or development program. No project management or workflow software is currently in place. Upper management consistently working overtime and partial weekends. Forecasting work and hiring doesn't ever seem to be in sync. Hard to get excited about. Very corporate; promotion checklists, annual reviews from colleagues, unclear bonus results. If you can manage to work there for long enough, you can be promoted to Principal eventually. This can be a pro or con, depending on how structured you like things.
