I worked at Merck as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Very relaxed culture, big on tele-commuting, most employees are nice. Great benefits and pay still has pension compared to most Big Pharma companies that chucked it.

    Cons

Hires within too much. If you find it hard to get into Merck is because they hire from other internal departments literally no new talent into the infrastructure. Has had a hiring freeze for like 4 years and closing headquarters basically means more layoffs. They shifted titles based on their new career map so an analyst after two or threes years became an Associate Director and Assistant managers became directors. VPs actually were lowered to Directors really bad for employee moral and business

    Advice to Management

Focus on launching a new product. Revisit titles in Merck. Everyone is like an Associate Director now but not enough experience to support it
