I worked at Mercury Solar Systems full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Fast moving, entrepreneurial firm that moved into commercial, utility scale and residential solar systems. They grew very fast, expanding from 70 employees in the beginning of 2010 to over 240 by 2011.

Cons

Market meltdown in NJ exposed some glaring weaknesses in cash flow management, costing, and HR policies. Widespread layoffs among both important and peripheral staff led to serious discontentment and the eventual firing of the CEO. Today it is run by financial folks and much of the upbeat spirit has been beaten out of them

Advice to Management

Create better internal SOPs on sales methodology and financing capabilities.

I worked at Mercury Solar Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

overtime. Field workers are easy to get along with.

    Cons

Company under bids on ALL of their projects which creates a ripple affect all the way down to drivers and installers. They look for ways to re-coop some of the money lost by way of letting go of installers and drivers. Upper management never takes pay cuts. Would prefer to fire you on spot than to provide you with constructive criticism. Pay sucks. Very disorganized company.

    Advice to Management

    Re-evaluate yourselves.

I worked at Mercury Solar Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Paid overtime. Other installers are easy to get a long with.

    Cons

Treat you like crap. Upper management are degrading and disrespectful to all the installers. Want you to work in the sun all day with little to know breaks. Not worth the 15$ an hour.

    Advice to Management

Yelling at your employees for taking water breaks in 95+ degree weather is not a bright idea.
