I worked at Mercy Medical Center (OH) part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work atmosphere was pleasant, if you're used to the city and its idiosyncrasies. Benefits were nice, as were the regular pay raises. Keeps you on your toes, literally.

    Cons

Management was a bit stiff and equipment was often disregarded and in disrepair, if not completely outdated.

    Advice to Management

Invest in updated equipment and protocol for its maintenance; it's one of the most overlooked yet vital aspects of the patient experience. Also keep up the hard work! :)

I worked at Mercy Medical Center (OH) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible with scheduling, Everyone non nursing related was friendly.

    Cons

Low pay, short staffed, bad communication.

    Advice to Management

I’ve worked at a different hospital in the area and coming to Mercy made me realize how much better the hospital I worked at was a lot better just by the little things. The hospital is cheap and doesn’t want to spend the money that will help better patient satisfaction. First it’s not sanitary to use wash clothes to clean up patients, they need to provide warm disposable wipes, secondly, each unit should have a... blanket warmer, and need disposable chuck pads and lastly they need to update their charting system because it’s old and takes forever it seems to chart. I was a nurse and I worked on many different units and I have to say the PCC’s on dayshift and a Nurse on 5M were rude and talked to you as if you were incompetent of doing your job and felt like they judged you if you had a question. Always short staffed and didn’t always have the best communication.
