I worked at Merrill Lynch full-time (More than a year)

Pros

They pay a decent starting salary, they will sponsor you to get your licenses, wholesalers occasionally bring food during breakfasts and lunches. after getting licensed there other firms will hire you pretty easily

Cons

where to start? the trainee program is almost a 100% failure rate. the goals are impossible to hit. some of the senior advisors wont even talk to you or say good morning. terrible culture in the downtown office. one trainer told us to make a list of every person you have ever met then call them. yeah ok. managers expected you to "cold walk" literally walk into a business dressed in a suit in the heat of florida handing out business cards. redic.

Advice to Management

hire trainees to be on a team or dont hire them because they wont succeed

I have been working at Merrill Lynch full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Merrill is a large company with a lot of different technologies and locations. I personally have had a number of good opportunities for growth in my technical knowledge, business knowledge and my career in general.

    Cons

There can be a good deal of bureaucracy depending are which part of the organization you work for. Working on applications that cross lines of business can be particularly difficult.

I have been working at Merrill Lynch full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If this is the type of work you are driven to work for and have the desire to succeed internally, there are very many opportunities once you do get your foot in the door and get moving.

    Cons

Extremely competitive environment at the beginning stages - there are different programs offered to help with this, but entry level employees who do not meet their minimums or pass their certification exams are fired on the spot.

    Advice to Management

Management is doing a good job of making sure that clients are getting the very best service possible.
