I have been working at MetLife full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Diverse. Culture of honesty and integrity is encouraged.

Cons

Occasional manager with myopic views can be stifling. Not everyone on the team wants to play nice with others in different parts of the company.

Advice to Management

Should take the review development process more seriously. Not everyone does. Managers need more emphasis placed on their contribution to them.

I worked at MetLife full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits. Work from home a couple days a week.

    Cons

There is so much micromanagement going on it's sickening. They demand far too much "mandatory" overtime. If there is a week you can't do what they ask, your not a team player. God forbid you leave your desk for a few minutes or converse with another teammate, it's like you broke a law. But managers who smoke are outside every hour on the hour. The job demands, workload and expectations they have for their employees is ridiculous. Each week seemed to get worse and worse. Production expectations are way to high especially given the work load. Getting time off is hell. They expect you to know all the days you want off a year in advance and then you still have to fight for the time. I can go on and on. They are apparently known for work/life balance. So not true! This job prepared me for hell.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people! Duh! Stop focusing so much on production and more on quality. The production expectations causes employees to feel rushed and stressed which causes both silly and serious errors on claims. Let them breathe. Take a look at the people you have managing teams. They make the work place hell. I say get rid of all management from the Ops Managers down and start fresh. Also, realize that your employees are human and have lives outside of Metlife.
